South Gibson School Corporation Board of Trustees Meeting

Newly elected Board members Don Steinmetz, Dr. Conway Cox, and Steve Gruszewski were administered the oath of office by Jim Morrow, Gibson County Clerk.  Newly elected member Mike Bengert was unable to attend the meeting and will go to the Clerk's office to receive the oath of office.

Board President Tim Nurrenbern asked for any patron concerns; none were voiced.

Board President Tim Nurrenbern opened the public hearing for comments on Dr. Humbaugh's contract at  6:38 p.m.  Terms of the proposed contract were discussed but there were no public comments.  The hearing closed at 6:40 p.m. and a contract will be voted on by the Board on 27 January 2015, the next public meeting.

David Lewis made a motion to elect Mike Bengert President of the South Gibson Board of School Trustees.  Janet McBee seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

David Lewis made a motion to elect Janet McBee Vice President of the South Gibson Board of School Trustees.  The motion was seconded by Steve Gruszewski, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

David Lewis made a motion to elect Tim Nurrenbern Secretary of the South Gibson Board of School Trustees.  Steve Gruszewski seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

Tim Nurrenbern made a motion to elect Steve Gruszewski President of the South Gibson School Corporation Board of Finance.  David Lewis seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

Steve Gruszewski made a motion to elect David Lewis as Secretary of the South Gibson School Corporation Board of Finance.  Tim Nurrenbern seconded the motion and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

David Lewis made a motion to set the regular school board meetings as the third Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 p.m., at Gibson Southern High School.  Tim Nurrenbern seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

David Lewis made a motion to approve the 2015 contract with Legal Counsel J. Robert Kinkle at the proposed rates.  Dr. Cox seconded the motion, and the motion passed 6/0.

David Lewis made a motion to appoint Elaine Tenbarge as the South Gibson School Corporation Treasurer.  Steve Gruszewski seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

Steve Gruszewski made a motion to appoint Sandy Edwards as the South Gibson School Corporation Assistant Treasurer.  David Lewis seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

Randy Ziliak made a report on Tim Speedy's behalf about the recent Archery Tournament held at Gibson Southern High School.  The tournament as an outstanding sucess and will be repeated in the future.

David Lewis made a motion to approve the appropriations for Fund 3750 Performance Based Awards (money sent by the State of Indiana) to pay those eligible under the State plan in the amount of $90,696.37 to cover costs associated with paying out these funds to eligible certified staff.  The plan is to have a special payroll on 23 January 2015 to disburse these funds.  Steve Gruszewski seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

After a presentation by Brent Winstead to describe the trip, David Lewis made a motion to approve the GSHS Band trip for May 26-28, 2015.  Dr. Cox seconded the motion, and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.

After Dr. Humbaugh informed the Board for the need for the book, David Lewis made a motion to adopt the Glencoe Marketing Series: Hospitality & Tourism for a class at GSHS.  The motion was seconded by Steve Gruszewski and the motion passed on a vote of 6/0.
